Bitcoin 2021 was dubbed the biggest cryptocurrency event in history and we certainly couldn’t miss it. A part of the Jax.Network team flew all the way to Miami, Florida, to attend the much-hyped conference on June 4–5.

The conference united over 12,000 cryptocurrency enthusiasts, Bitcoin evangelists, investors, and industry leaders from all around the globe. Bitcoin 2021 has become not only the largest event since the pandemic started but also the biggest cryptocurrency conference in history. There were a lot of cool people, breaking news, eye-catching booths, and interesting speeches. Indeed, it was truly amazing to be there and feel the vibe!

The conference started with welcoming speeches from the event organizers and Miami city officials. Among featured speakers, we noticed were Twitter’s CEO Jack Dorsey and Bitcoin pioneer Nick Szabo. It was interesting to find a famous boxer Floyd Mayweather, Jr., and a pro skater Tony Hawk also speaking at the conference. Mr. Dorsey gave a riveting speech about the importance of decentralization, the dominance of Bitcoin, and the future of cryptocurrencies as a mainstream method of transaction. Meanwhile, Mr. Mayweather bragged about his flawless boxing record and promoted his upcoming fight against YouTuber Logan Paul that weekend.

An interesting revelation for Bitcoin also presented itself at this event. Nayib Bukele, the president of El Salvador, announced that his country is going to partner with Strike, a well-known digital wallet company, to create a financial infrastructure based on Bitcoin in the country. This partnership has quickly gone around the world as an announcement of El Salvador becoming the world’s first country to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender. Strike’s CEO Jack Maller gave an incredibly emotional speech when breaking the news of El Salvador’s adoption of Bitcoin as legal tender, he can be seen to be literally crying at one point. But support was given by the crowd nonetheless, as it was a huge step for crypto mass adoption.

One thing we noticed while browsing through the booths at this event was the vast number of booths associated with mining present at the conference. Many of them were big mining pools along with smaller companies that looked to service small, independent miners. It seems that in the United States at least, there was a growing appetite for crypto mining. Certainly, given the profitability of mining cryptocurrencies right now, it makes sense that many people would want to get in on it. It is almost like watching a modern-day gold rush.

Certainly, Bitcoin 2021 made a lot of noise in the media but most importantly it gave an opportunity to the crypto community to finally get back together. We were happy to talk to many people from different fields of blockchain and cryptocurrency space, exchange business cards, and spend some quality time together.

Jax.Network plans to attend many more such conferences within the near future. Community is the most important thing for any blockchain project and so it is our goal, not only to bring about the next great solution to crypto mass adoption but also to meet and converse with the community and see what their needs are. We hope to see many of our supporters and community members in the upcoming events!
